LASER CUTTING
Laser cutting is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials, and is typically used for industrial, signage or decorative applications. Laser cutting works by directing the output of a high power laser by a computer controlled machine at the material to be cut. The material then either melts, burns, vaporizes away, or is blown away by a jet of gas, leaving an edge with a high quality surface finish. CNC laser cutting offers low cost for prototype and short runs since no physical tooling is needed. One notable advantage is that the CNC laser cutting process yields minimal burrs. Laser cutting can produce almost any 2D shape including shaped cutouts. Acrylic is an excellent material for laser cutting and results in a near polished edge.
Laser are also used for engraving or etching high resolution photos on stone, acrylic or MDF. Family photos and memories can permenantly be engraved on the above materials.
